EUROTOX BASIC TOXICOLOGY COURSE

A Basic Toxicology course is organized by the Serbian Society of Toxicology and Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, under the auspices of EUROTOX, on 27 June-1 July 2011 in Belgrade. The venue of the course will be Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. The following topics will be addressed:
•Basic concepts and principles of toxicology
•Factors affecting toxic response
•Toxicokinetics
• Role of metabolism in drug and chemical toxicity
• Mutagenesis and chemical carcinogenesis
• Reproductive and Developmental Toxicity
• Organ toxicity (liver, kidney and immune system)
• Risk Analysis (Risk Assessment, Management and Communication)
• Toxicity testing and Regulatory Toxicology
• Legislation and strategies for managing chemical risks
• REACH – Basic Concepts
•Working groups and presentaton of study cases
This is a five day course, with 10 2h lectures, 10 working group sessions, and 4 repports of outcome. A written exam will be held at the end of the course.
Attendance fees for all participants are set to 100 €, covering registration and full board accommodation (breakfast, lunch, dinner and all day drinks), including a welcome reception and a farewell dinner.
Selection criteria for participation to the course are
- Work and Experience in Toxicology related areas
- Reference Letters
- Age with preference given to students up to 40 years of age
- Geographical distribution (max number of participants from a certain country)
- Sex distribution
- Personal income
